Privacy Policy

The short version
Move Jar has no account, no ads, and no servers of ours. Your moves, prices, rewards and log stay on your iPhone, and you can erase all of it at any time. The one thing we do collect is anonymous usage counts through Firebase Analytics: that something happened, such as a move being logged, never what you wrote.
Who we are
Move Jar ("the app", "we", "us") is made by No Big Apps, for iPhone. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you put into Move Jar is stored on your iPhone: the moves on your list and their prices, moves you made up, your log, your weekly jars and their rewards, low-battery days, markdowns and badges. It is included in your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) if you use them, like the data of any other app.
We do not collect, transmit, or store any of it on servers of ours. We cannot see it.
Move Jar does not use Apple Health and does not collect health data. The points and prices in the app are yours to set; they are not measurements.
Purchases
Full access is a one-time purchase processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple tells the app whether you have bought it; we never see your payment details, name or Apple ID. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you turn on the daily nudge or jar news, the reminders are scheduled on your iPhone. To write them (for example, how many points your jar needs), the app reads your log on the device; nothing about them is sent to us. You can turn them off in the app or in your iPhone's Settings at any time.
Siri and Shortcuts
If you log moves with Siri, Apple handles the voice request and passes the app the move and the amount. Move Jar logs it on your iPhone. See Apple's privacy information for Siri.
Analytics
Move Jar uses Firebase Analytics, a service of Google, to understand how the app is used in aggregate. It never receives the reward you write on a jar or the names of moves you make up (those are counted only as "custom"). We do not use advertising identifiers and do not track you across other apps or websites.
The events we send are:
- which screen was opened, and how far the first-run setup got;
- the moves picked and priced during setup: which built-in moves, their prices, and whether you tried them or guessed;
- a move was logged, changed, taken out, or a log was undone: which built-in move (or "custom"), its unit, the amount and points, where you logged it from, and whether it was on another day or a low-battery day;
- a move was added, removed or put back, or its price changed, with the old and new price and any markdown bonus;
- a jar size was chosen, discovery was restarted, a jar was filled, and whether a reward was set or claimed (never the reward itself);
- a low-battery day was switched on or off;
- reminders, the app icon, the fresh-move bonus, price checks or the week start were changed in Settings;
- the log was exported;
- the full access screen was shown or a purchase was made on it, and what led there.
Firebase also records some things automatically: a random identifier for this installation of the app, your device model, iOS version, app version, language, approximate region (country or city level, derived from your IP address, which is not stored), when the app was first opened and how long it was in use, and, if you buy full access, that an App Store purchase was made, with the product and its price.
See Google's Privacy Policy for how Google handles this data.
Emailing us
If you send feedback from the app, your email app opens with a message to us that includes your device model, iOS version and app version, so we can help. We only receive what you choose to send, and we use it only to reply to you.
Your data, your control
You can change or take out any log, empty every jar (Settings → Empty every jar), or erase everything and start over (Settings → Start over). With full access you can export your whole log to a CSV file. Deleting the app removes its data from your iPhone; copies inside your iPhone's own backups follow your backup settings.
The anonymous usage events are not tied to your name, email or Apple ID, so we cannot look up or pick out the ones that came from you. Deleting the app stops any further events and discards the installation identifier on your iPhone.
Children's privacy
Move Jar does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Purchases require parental consent for minors.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, with an updated date at the top.
