Terms of Use
Last updated: 31 October 2026
In short
UK Calculators does arithmetic on the figures you enter, using UK rates and default assumptions. Its results are estimates for illustration only, not tax or financial advice, and they can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. You decide what to do with them, and we are not responsible for any losses that follow, including if a figure in the app is wrong. Check anything that matters with the source before acting. The only exceptions are the rights the law gives you, under "Your legal rights" below. The calculators are free, and Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
Acceptance of terms
By downloading, installing, or using UK Calculators (the "app"), made by No Big Apps ("we", "us"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
What the app is
UK Calculators is a set of calculators for everyday UK money questions, for your personal use: take-home pay, student loans, an ISA allowance tracker, stamp duty (SDLT, LBTT and LTT), and rent vs buy. It is designed to apply published government rates and thresholds to the figures you enter, and to default assumptions you can change. It is a simplified model and doesn't cover every rule or situation.
Not tax or financial advice
Every result is an estimate for illustration only, not tax or financial advice. The app does arithmetic. It does not know your full circumstances and does not recommend any course of action, product or provider. We are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, and we are not tax advisers, solicitors or conveyancers.
Your real position can differ from what the app shows, so don't rely on the app alone. Before making a decision that matters, check the figures yourself on GOV.UK or with the source: your payslip or employer, HMRC, the Student Loans Company, your ISA provider, your solicitor or conveyancer, or a qualified adviser.
The figures can be wrong
The rates, thresholds, rules, calculations and default assumptions in the app can contain mistakes or omissions, can be out of date, and can leave out rules that apply to you. Every figure in the app is provisional. Apart from your rights described under "Your legal rights", we guarantee nothing: we don't promise that any result or figure is accurate, complete, current or suitable for your situation. A "rules checked" date shows when we last looked at the rules. It isn't a promise that the figures are right.
What the calculators leave out
Each calculator covers common situations only. These are the main things they leave out, and this list may not be complete:
- Take-home pay: a second job, self-employment, benefits in kind, savings, dividend or rental income, the HMRC top-up for low earners in net pay pension schemes, and the minimum-wage limit on salary sacrifice. It warns about pensions over the annual allowance but doesn't work out the charge, carry-forward or taper. A tax code you type is used as entered.
- Student loan: it treats today's balance as the balance at the start of the tax year, doesn't know future interest rates or thresholds, and assumes pay changes only by the growth you set. It doesn't model career breaks or working abroad.
- ISA tracker: it knows only what you enter. The government bonus it shows on a Lifetime ISA, including on money transferred in, is our reading of the published rules.
- Stamp duty: residential purchases in the situations you can select. It doesn't cover shared ownership, mixed-use or non-residential property, linked transactions or other reliefs.
- Rent vs buy: it ignores tax on investments outside ISAs, capital gains tax, inflation, remortgage fees, ground rent and moving more than once.
Your decisions are your responsibility
You alone decide what to do with anything the app shows. We can't see your full circumstances, so we don't take on responsibility for your decisions or for what follows from them. That includes decisions about your job and pay, pension contributions, tax, student loan repayments or overpayments, ISA deposits, withdrawals and transfers, buying, selling or renting a home, mortgages and investments.
Check any figure that matters with the sources above before acting on it.
Results and PDFs are for your own use. We don't take on any responsibility to anyone else who sees them, including anyone you send a PDF to.
Rates and how up to date they are
Each result screen and PDF shows the tax year it uses and the date its rules were last checked. Rates and thresholds change, and updates reach the app only through app updates, so a result can go out of date without warning. We may update the rates, but we don't promise to do so on time or at all. Figures for a coming tax year are a preview and can include values that haven't been announced yet; the app says so when they do.
Projections
The student loan and rent vs buy tools project many years ahead, using assumptions listed on the same screen, which you can change, such as salary growth, house prices and investment returns. These are assumptions, not forecasts. What actually happens will differ.
The ISA tracker is your own record
The ISA tracker only knows what you enter. It is not connected to any provider and is not an official record. Your provider's records and HMRC decide what you have actually subscribed. It's your responsibility to stay within the limits, and for any tax or charge that follows if you don't.
Free features and Pro
All the calculators are free and unlimited, with no ads, and they remember your last inputs.
UK Calculators Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so there is nothing to cancel. It adds:
- saved profiles and scenarios, and side-by-side what-ifs;
- a preview of the next tax year in the take-home, student loan and stamp duty tools, when its rules are available;
- the year-by-year student loan chart and table, plan comparison and overpayment what-ifs;
- ISA history across past tax years, Junior ISAs, and reminders before 5 April;
- the ISA allowance widget for the Home Screen and Lock Screen;
- PDF export.
The price is shown in the app before you confirm. Payment is billed to your Apple Account and handled by Apple; we never see your payment details. You can restore Pro on your other devices with the same Apple Account using Restore in the app. Apple takes the payment, so refunds are requested from Apple: see how to request a refund. If Pro is faulty, you also have the rights under "Your legal rights". If a purchase is refunded, Pro switches off; what you saved stays on your phone, and Pro features lock again.
Your data
What you enter is stored on your phone, and the app has no account or sync. If you lose your phone or delete the app, it may be gone unless it's in your own device backup, so please keep your own records of anything important. Our Privacy Policy explains what is and isn't sent anywhere.
Sources and independence
The app is independent. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by HMRC, GOV.UK, the Student Loans Company, the Scottish Government, Revenue Scotland, the Welsh Revenue Authority, or any ISA provider. Any provider name you see is one you typed.
Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Intellectual property
All content, design, and code in UK Calculators belong to us. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the app without permission. Published government data remains under its own licence.
Our liability
We don't promise that the app will be free of errors or work without interruption. We can change or stop the free calculators at any time. We may change Pro for a valid reason, such as a change in the rules, a problem with a feature or a change to iOS.
We are not responsible for any losses arising from your use of the app or anything it shows, including if a figure in the app is wrong, incomplete or out of date and you make a financial decision based on it. The only exceptions are the rights under "Your legal rights" below.
Separately, and whether or not the paragraph above applies, we aren't responsible for:
- loss, to the extent a reasonable check with the source before acting would have avoided it, even if a figure in the app was wrong. That can include tax, National Insurance, student loan repayments, interest, penalties or charges, including any charge for going over an ISA or pension allowance; tax relief, allowances or government bonuses you miss out on; money lost or not made on a property, mortgage, loan, pension, savings or investment; and fees paid to advisers, solicitors, conveyancers or lenders;
- loss caused by figures you entered, or by assumptions you chose or left in place;
- loss caused by something listed under "What the calculators leave out";
- loss caused by a change in rates or rules after the "rules checked" date on a result;
- loss to anyone else who relies on a result or PDF;
- loss we couldn't reasonably have foreseen when you started using the app or bought Pro;
- business losses, such as lost profit, lost business or business interruption, because the app is for personal use.
If we are found responsible for a loss despite this, then apart from your legal rights below, our total liability to you for anything to do with the app is limited to £50 or what you paid for Pro, whichever is higher.
Each of these limits stands on its own. If a court finds one unfair, the others still apply.
Your legal rights
These terms don't take away the rights the law gives you. In plain terms:
- Pro is digital content you pay for, so it must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it isn't, you can ask us to repair or replace it and, if that doesn't fix the problem, you can get a price reduction of up to the full price. What counts as satisfactory takes account of what these terms say about the app's limits, including that its results are estimates and can be wrong.
- If anything we supply, paid for or free, damages your device or other digital content because we didn't use reasonable care and skill, we'll repair the damage or compensate you.
- We are liable for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud.
To raise a problem, email us at [email protected].
App Store terms
The app is distributed through the App Store, so Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) also applies to your use of the app, alongside these terms. If the two conflict, these terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, but you keep any protections given by the law of the part of the UK where you live. You can bring a claim in the courts of that part of the UK or in the courts of England and Wales. We can only bring a claim against you in the courts of the part of the UK where you live. If a court finds that any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms when the law, the rules or the app change. We'll show the new date at the top of this page and, for a significant change, mention it in the app's update notes first. Changes won't take away anything you've already bought.
