The short version
UK Calculators has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no servers of ours. Your salary, loan, property and ISA figures stay on your iPhone, and every calculation runs there. The app doesn't send them to us, so we can't see them.
Who we are
UK Calculators ("the app", "we", "us") is an iPhone app made by No Big Apps. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information. You can reach us any time at [email protected].
Information we collect
Everything you enter stays on your iPhone: salaries, pension and loan details, property prices, the ISAs you add and their deposits, and any inputs you save. The app also remembers the last figures you typed in each tool, so they're there next time. It has no account and no servers of ours, and every calculation runs on the phone, so it works offline.
We never receive any of this. The app does not sync it anywhere. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, the backup can include the app's data, as it can for most apps; that backup belongs to you and we can't read it.
Widgets and PDF export
If you add the ISA widget, it reads your ISA figures from the same on-device store and shows the allowance left and, depending on its size, the days to 5 April and how much you've used. A Home Screen or Lock Screen widget can be seen by anyone who can see your phone, so remove it if you'd rather keep that private.
If you export a result as a PDF, the PDF is made on your phone and only goes where you send it from the share sheet. It holds the figures you entered and any names you gave your ISAs, children or saved scenarios. The app normally deletes its own temporary copy when the share sheet closes; we never get a copy.
Purchases
If you buy UK Calculators Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, and we don't use a third-party purchase service. The app asks Apple whether Pro is unlocked on your Apple Account, and that check happens on your phone.
For more detail, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
Notifications
If you turn on the 5 April reminders and allow notifications, the app schedules them locally on your phone. Nothing about them is sent to us, and they contain no amounts, because notifications can show on the Lock Screen. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in your phone's settings. They also stop if Pro is no longer active.
No analytics or tracking
The app has no analytics, advertising or tracking code. It doesn't use advertising identifiers, and it doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
Apple gives every developer some figures through App Store Connect: download and sales totals, plus crash reports and usage statistics from people who turned on "Share With App Developers" in their iPhone's settings. Apple says these are aggregated or don't personally identify you, and the app adds nothing you typed.
If you email us
If you contact us, including through the feedback option that can appear after you rate the app, your email app sends us your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to fix what you tell us about, because we have a legitimate interest in answering you, and delete it once we no longer need it for what you raised.
Your data, your control
You can change your inputs at any time, and swipe to delete a saved set of inputs, an ISA or a ledger entry. ISAs and ledger entries can't be edited, so to correct one, delete it and add it again. Deleting an ISA also deletes every entry recorded for it. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your phone. A copy can remain in a device backup until that backup is replaced or deleted. If Pro is no longer active, saved inputs, past tax years and the Junior ISA section stay locked on your phone until you unlock Pro again or delete the app, though this tax year's Junior ISA entries still appear in the activity list.
If you're in the UK, data protection law gives you rights over your personal data, including asking what we hold and complaining to the Information Commissioner's Office. To complain to us about how we've handled your data, email us.
Children's privacy
UK Calculators does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you track a child's Junior ISA, what you enter, including their name, stays on your phone like everything else, unless you export an ISA PDF, which includes their name. Purchases go through Apple, and Ask to Buy applies where a family has set it up.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page, with an updated date at the top.
